Presentation: 1997 Discovery of prehistoric Native American Town

Description:
 This presentation will focus on the 1997 archaeological excavation of a prehistoric Native American town discovered during construction of the new Brentwood Library. The investigation identified palisade lines, residential structures, refuse-filled pits, and human burials. Excavation and analysis results will be discussed, as well as legal issues created by the discovery of human remains. In addition, the presentation will include brief overviews of recent work at several other Williamson County archaeological sites, including the Coats-Hines mastodon site near Cool Springs, and the Glass Mounds site located on Hwy 96 west of Franklin.
