Tai Chi Qigong Practice and Variation

Event Type: Library Programs & Classes
Date: 7/31/2014
Start Time: 10:00 AM
End Time: 11:00 AM
Description:
Tai Chi movements offer a valuable tool to learn how to let go of the stress most of us have "dumped" in our bodies. This low impact form of movement has been shown to promote relaxation, relieve tension and enhance the mind/body connection, while improving balance, coordination, posture, flexibility and muscle tone. Our focus will be the short form of Sun Style Tai Chi and Qigong. Qigong is an ancient healing art which focuses on renewing and balancing the body’s natural flow of internal energy through movement and breath. Tai Chi is a form of Qigong. Each class will include basic instruction as we move to gentle background music.

"I knew as soon as I saw this type of Tai Chi that it could benefit everyone. It is easy to learn and the benefits of relaxing and focusing on slow intentional movements are absolutely amazing! In addition to the physical benefits, students quickly become aware of when and where they are tensing up. Tai Chi and Qigong give them a tool to let go of that tension and stress!"
